Opération dans le djebel

Amateur Film by a Soldier During the Algerian War. These landscapes of masive Algerian mountains (the Mitidjan Atlas) are for a time the military theatre of operations of the French Army. A temporary camp is located in the valley. It's meant to transport tanks, loaded onto trailers. Crossing a small village, where we are allowed to observe some scenes of everyday life, is an opportunity to have a restorative, short break for the soldiers. The crossing of the mountains is carried out along the wadi, whose surroundings are adorned with a generous vegetation. Nomad tents are installed here and there in these landscapes with the most varied terrain reliefs. The crossing of the river by military vehicles poses some logistical problems. Some jeeps get stuck in the middle of the river and have to be towed by trucks. Despite other obstacles along this relatively rough road, the convoy follows its course with apparent relax, some soldiers make jokes or pose for a portrait in front of the camera during their daily activities (meals, personal hygiene ...). We witness the boarding of several sections of airborne marine commandos in helicopters. Several of these aircrafts of Naval Aviation, while they manoeuver or on the ground, are a subject of curiosity for the maker of these images.
